Starling bird proofing

Starling on a roof

The Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) pest bird was introduced in the 1880s and is the worst carrier of bird mites. Like the Indian Myna it will create a nest in the roof of your home at any opportunity. These nests can be totally overrun with thousands of bird mites and also contribute to gutter blockage. The starling is also guilty of much weed dispersal, studies have found that after the seed has been digested it is more likely to germinate and this can be seen in roof gutters where weeds are often found due to the activity of this bird.

Starlings also love to perch on the elbow of downpipes and we install spikes to deter this.
